Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton charm ACM awards with "Purple Irises" performance
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton brought their chemistry to the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas.
Performing their duet "Purple Irises" at the Ford Center at The Star, the couple captivated the audience.
Stefani, dressed in a dazzling purple jumpsuit adorned with a large floral embellishment, and Shelton, in his classic button-up and black blazer, created a memorable moment surrounded by a sea of purple irises and a stained-glass backdrop depicting the same flowers.
Earlier in the evening, Stefani and Shelton appeared on the red carpet before delivering a performance that would earn them a standing ovation and widespread acclaim on social media.
Their song "Purple Irises," which debuted in February just before Stefani's Super Bowl LVIII TikTok Tailgate, features lyrics about timeless love and the inevitability of change.
Speaking to ET before the show, Shelton expressed his excitement and admiration for Stefani's creative vision for the performance, noting that while he contributed to the song, the production was entirely Stefani's domain.
"I'm just along for the ride this time and I'm gonna enjoy it and just hang out," Shelton said.
Shelton also shared his gratitude for how the country music community has embraced Stefani, highlighting the personal significance of her performance at the ACM Awards.
The couple's relationship, which began on NBC's "The Voice," continues to thrive.
The 59th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, a celebration of country music's finest, was streamed live on May 16 on Prime Video.
