Islamabad IG removes four SPs after unabated crimes wave

As the street criminals continue to operate in the capital without police fear and deprive citizens of cash and valuables round-the-clock, the capital police authorities have started taking action against the field officers for failing to control crimes.   

After continuous coverage of daily crimes in a section of the media, IG Ali Nasir Rizvi has removed the SPs of three zones and the Dolphin SP from their posts as the crime rate in their zones was highest in the capital. Nine other police officers have also been transferred.

Police sources said that the four SPs, who have been removed for failing to control street crimes, included the City SP, the Saddar SP, the Rural and the Dolphin SP.

According to a notification, City SP Abdul Aleem has been transferred and directed to report to the Central Police Office, Rural SP Amjad Farooq has been transferred and posted in the Law and Order, Training, Special Protection Unit (SPU) and SP I-9 Khan Zeb has been transferred and posted the City SP.

Koral ASP Shahzad Akbar was transferred and assigned the additional charge of the Industrial Area SP. Saddar SP Kazim Naqvi was transferred and posted as the Dolphin SP. SP Muhammad Shoaib Masood, who was awaiting posting, has been posted as the Rural SP.

General and Development AIG Hasan Jahangir has been posted as SSP Investigation Wing vice AIG Investigation Wing Syed Inaiyat Ali Shah who has been transferred and posted as the AIG Establishment, Law and Order SP Muhammad Iqbal has been transferred and posted as the CTD SSP, SP Zaheer Arshad, who was awaiting posting, has been posted to the Prime Minister House, Establishment SP Arslan Shahzeb has been transferred and posted the Sadar SP.

Despite tall claims of field patrolling and improved security, the incidents of snatching and thefts are continuing as 33 such incidents were reported in the capital in the last 24 hours of this news going to the press for publishing. Bandits and thieves robbed 18 cell phones, cash in hundreds of thousands, two houses, three vehicles and nine motorcycles.

Rasheeda was deprived of gold ornaments and cell phones from her house in G8/1, Abdul Qayyum was robbed of gold ornaments, clothes and other goods from his residential property, Asad Noor was deprived of a mobile phone from G8/4, Fauzia Hussain was robbed of savings certificates, jewellery, mobile phones and documents from her house in F11, Raja Taimur Abbasi was deprived of a transformer, Arslan Kashif was robbed of a mobile phone from G8 Centre, Iqrar Khan was deprived of cell phones and cash from G8/3.

Other citizens, who were deprived of cash and valuables including cars, motorcycles and a truck in different areas of the city, are Siddiqur Rehman, Zareen Syed, Mohsin Iqbal, Hashim Nasir, Akhtar Masih, Zahoor Ahmed, Talha Ahmed Shaikh, Asad Jamal, Akram Dawood, Kamran Khan, Hammad Ali, Raja Zahir Zafar, Mohammad Waseem, Osama, Shafqatullah, Hidayatullah, Raja Saadur Rahman, Waseem Razzaq, Nauman Aslam, Shabir Raza, Muhammad Sajjad, Mukhtiar, Muhammad Shafiq, Shiraz and Shakeel.
