Participants of the Nakba Day rally at the University of Karachi expressed resolve to support the right of the people of Palestine to return to their homes from where they were driven out on May 15, 1948.
Nakba Day is the day of commemoration for the Nakba, also known as the Palestinian Catastrophe, which comprised the destruction of Palestinian society and homeland in 1948, and the permanent displacement of a majority of the Palestinian people.
The participants of the rally at KU said Israel was an illegitimate state of Zionist settlers and not the Jews. The European governments including America, Great Britain and France have committed the biggest terrorism in the world by establishing an illegitimate state of Israel for the Zionists on the land of Palestine. The rulers of the Muslim Ummah have become silent spectators to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. We will continue to provide all possible help to the oppressed Palestinians. This is the ideology of father of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The speakers included KU VC Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Palestine Foundation Pakistan Secretary General Dr Sabir Abu Maryam, Islamic Studies Dean Dr Zahid Ali Zahidi, Karachi University Teachers Society President Dr Shah Aliul Qadr. A large number of students including teachers and non-teaching staff were present in the protest rally.
The participants carried banners and placards with slogans such as "Palestine is the homeland of the Palestinians," "Death to America," "No to Israel," "Stop the aggression in Gaza," and "Release the American teachers and students."
