According to SSP Special Investigation Unit Adeel Chandio, the pistol found in possession of the lynched bandits is the same weapon used in the murder of Syed Hamid Ali. Eyewitnesses, including a watermelon seller, have also identified the slain robbers who allegedly killed the elderly citizen.

The bandits were identified as Abdullah and Attaullah.
