The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cabinet on Friday approved the provision of a Rs859.8 million supplementary grant for the Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) in the settled and merged districts for the disbursement of salaries and pensions and to meet previous liabilities.
The funds are being provided for the TMAs in 86 settled and 25 merged districts of the province. The cabinet also approved the upcoming administrative expenses for which formal concurrence will be given in the upcoming assembly session.
The third meeting of the K-P provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in which detailed deliberations were carried out on the provision of a grant for Cadet College Spinkai in the South Waziristan tribal district, the supplementary grant for the TMAs, and approval of the signing of a financial agreement between the provincial government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Unit.
While chairing the meeting, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur directed the relevant quarters to come up with concrete proposals to rid the provincial government of unnecessary liabilities, increase revenue through reforms, effective utilization of government property and pragmatic steps to revise the lease policy for enhanced revenue generation.
He also directed the TMAs and the Agriculture Department to increase the number of market places (‘mandis’) in every district of the province to encourage business activities.
