Jesse Metcalfe is optimistic about the long-awaited sequel to his popular 2006 romantic comedy, "John Tucker Must Die". The actor, 45, discussed the sequel with ET's Denny Directo at the Hollywood premiere of Netflix's new drama, "Ripley".
"It may live on," Metcalfe said. "I'm hopeful.I think this script that I've read is a great jumping-off point. It's really well executed."
Metcalfe confirmed he has seen a script, which is positive news for fans. He credits co-star Arielle Kebbel for spearheading the project: "I think everybody's up for it, so hopefully, it'll happen." He couldn't confirm if co-stars Ashanti and Brittany Snow would return but shared, "I can't speak for them, but I know that they're in the script."
Metcalfe is enthusiastic about the possibility, saying, "I think it'd be cool. They rebooted Mean Girls... I think it makes sense, you know? I think we're kind of in a Y2K moment right now. There's definitely an appetite for it. So yeah, it feels good."
Previously, Metcalfe had only heard rumors of the sequel, stating, "I've heard rumors of this script -- there's a script. Apparently, it's amazing." Kebbel had confirmed reading the script and hinted that the story would continue with the original cast.
