K-P to digitise Directorate of Industries, Commerce

Concerned authorities to make the government printing Press a fully activated and profitable institution

Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Abdul Karim Tordher has directed that the digitization of all professional and general business of the Directorate General of Industries and Commerce be expedited. He has also emphasized that the performance of the department be improved in terms of service delivery and consumer protection rights.

He has also ordered that a resource mapping cluster of special resources and products belonging to different regions of the province be created so that complete data on the special products of each region is available.

In addition, he has directed the concerned authorities to take appropriate steps to make the Government Printing Press a fully activated and profitable institution.

He issued the instructions during a briefing on the department given to him on the occasion of his visit to the Directorate General of Industries and Commerce on Wednesday.

Director General Industries Kabir Afridi, Director Industries Muhammad Hanif and other officers were present during the briefing in which the Special Assistant was informed in detail about the department’s performance, the goals it has achieved, and its professional responsibilities and activities. He was told that the department was providing its services through regional offices in 26 districts and that 5,086 cases had been disposed of regarding consumer rights in which fines of Rs4.7 billion had also been imposed.

He was also informed that 58,147 inspections had been conducted and that 86 per cent of the target set for the July 2023 to March 2024 period of the financial year had been achieved. He was further briefed that the rules for the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Registration Godown Act 2021 had been finalized and forwarded to the concerned authorities for Cabinet approval.

He was also informed that the rules of the Industries Commerce and Trade Statistics Act had been finalized, that work was in progress to compile the resource mapping data and finalize it in the form of a report.
