HYDERABAD:

There is severe shortage of water supply in Hyderabad during Ramazan. Muddy water is being supplied through water supply lines.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MPA, Engineer Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani said that there is severe shortage of water supply in Cantt during Ramazan. Muddy water is being supplied through water supply lines in the city. Apart from this, power supply goes off for long periods during water supply times. Due to the closure of the pumping station in the city, residents are facing drainage problems.

Qaimkhani contacted Commissioner and Director General of Hyderabad Development Authority and informed them about the problems of the city.

He said that the water supply situation in his constituency and adjacent areas is very serious. Water is not being supplied from filter plant. Mucky water is being provided in some areas. In many areas, people are not getting wter at all. Due to scarcity of water in the month of Ramazan, citizens are facing problems in their daily prayers and rituals.

He informed the Commissioner Hyderabad and DG HDA about the situation and said that there is an immediate need to introduce a scheme for a new water reservoir in Hyderabad. The existing water reservoirs are insufficient to meet the needs of the city. Water is stolen from the main lines that supply water to the city.

The prolonged and unnecessary load shedding by Hesco at the water supply filter plant and other places has worsened the situation. He suggested that new turbines should be installed on the water supply unit. He urged the commissioner to call a meeting with all the relevant institutions immediately to solve this serious problem so that a comprehensive and integrated policy can be formulated.

Commissioner Hyderabad, Qureshi and DG HAD, Zahid Hussain Shar appreciated all the talks of Qaim Khani and immediately announced to hold a meeting of the relevant institutions within two days.

They said that help will be taken from the police, magistrate and district administration to prevent theft of water, to ensure uninterrupted supply and proper distribution.

Qaim Khani demanded immediate implementation of these demands from Commissioner Hyderabad and DG HDA. He said that with these measures, the people of Hyderabad will be able to lead a better life in the coming summers.
