Gypsy Rose Blanchard, recently released from prison, has announced her separation from husband Ryan Scott Anderson.

Blanchard made the statement on Facebook, saying "People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am,"

Blanchard was released after serving eight years in prison for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Dee Dee Blanchard subjected her daughter, Gypsy Rose, to Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSBP).

This is a form of child abuse where a caregiver fabricates or exaggerates illnesses in their child to gain sympathy and attention.

Gypsy Rose was forced to use a wheelchair, feeding tube, and undergo unnecessary medical procedures despite being healthy.

In 2015, Gypsy Rose, desperate for freedom, convinced her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother, Dee Dee. Godejohn traveled to Missouri and murdered Dee Dee in their home.

After an investigation, Gypsy Rose and Godejohn were arrested.Gypsy Rose pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016, citing the abuse she endured. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Godejohn was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2018 and sentenced to life without parole. Gypsy Rose was released from prison in December 2023 after serving most of her sentence.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard co-authored a book titled Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom. This book was written with the help of Melissa Moore and Michele Matrisciani.

It contains interviews, journal entries, and illustrations that give insight into Gypsy Rose's experiences and reflections.

Gypsy Rose's key goals with the book were to tell her story in her own words. After years of her story being narrated by others, she wants to reclaim her voice. To take ownership of her actions and the consequences. She wanted to share her experiences with the hope of helping others in similar situations of abuse or entrapment.
