K-P government to celebrate Tirch Mir festival this year

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has unveiled ambitious plans to designate the upcoming year, 2024-25, as the ‘Year of Tirch Mir,’ the majestic peak towering as the highest pinnacle in the province.

To mark this occasion, the government aims to inaugurate the annual Tirch Mir Festival, a celebration of the region’s natural splendor and cultural richness. Spearheading these efforts, the Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has been tasked with immediate steps to facilitate the realization of this vision.

The decision was reached at a meeting convened to chart a course for tourism promotion, presided over by Zahid Chanzeb, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Tourism and Culture. Held at the conference hall of KPCTA in Peshawar, the gathering drew the participation of eminent figures, including Director General BarkatUllah Marwat, General Manager Planning & Marketing Muhammad Ali Syed, and General Manager Tourism Sajjad Hameed. Moreover, the meeting welcomed tour operators and key stakeholders representing the serene locales of the province.

Stakeholders hailed the announcement as a watershed moment in the province’s tourism landscape. They pledged unwavering support, affirming their commitment to ensuring the resounding success of the Tirch Mir Festival.

Additionally, it was unanimously agreed to waive mountaineering royalties and trekking fees for the designated year, 2024-25, thereby easing access to the awe-inspiring Tirch Mir Mountain.
