In yet another incident in the centre of Balochistan’s mining area, tragedy struck as the roof of a room collapsed due to heavy rain in the Meraj Coal area of Dukki District. The calamity claimed the lives of five laborers, leaving a community in mourning and shedding light on the precarious conditions faced by those toiling in the area’s coal mines.

According to sources of police department, the victims, identified as Inayatullah s/o Musa Jan hailing from the Kakar tribe of Karn Mehtharzai, Ibrahim s/o Sirajuddin from the Kakar tribe of Zhob, Wali s/o Abdullah Jan, Sadruddin s/o Nasir, and Zafoor s/o Major representing the Musa Khel tribe of District Musa Khel, were among those who tragically lost their lives in the collapse.

Eyewitnesses reported that the laborers were in the process of concluding their night shift, preparing to exit the mine as the dawn approached. Little did they know that nature had a cruel twist in store for them. As they made their way out, the unforgiving weight of the collapsing roof descended upon them, trapping them beneath the rubble.
