QUETTA:

An Additional Sessions Court in Quetta on Monday rejected the bail application of tribal elder Sardar Sher Baz Satakzai but approved the bail plea of Gul Bibi, mother of slain Bano Bibi, in the high-profile Degari double murder case.

Presided over by Additional Sessions Judge-X, the court heard arguments from both prosecution and defence before ruling that Satakzai would remain in custody, while Gul Bibi be released on bail. The Serious Crime Investigation Wing has already submitted the case challan.

Case records state that in the Sanjdi Degari area, Bano Bibi's brother allegedly gunned down his sister and a young man in the name of so-called honour before fleeing. The prime suspect remains at large.

The killings sparked widespread condemnation in Quetta and across Balochistan. Politicians, journalists, lawyers, and civil society activists voiced outrage on social media, urging authorities to apprehend the fugitive. Rights groups have renewed calls for stronger legal measures to curb honour-related killings, which continue to claim lives in the province despite existing laws.
