Bahrain national guard chief calls on COAS Gen Munir

Visiting dignitary assures of commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan in defence and security domains

Commander of the National Guard of the Kingdom of Bahrain General Shaikh Mohamed bin Isa bin Salman AI-Khalifa called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation. Both the leaders discussed matters of mutual interest including regional security dynamics, counter-terrorism efforts and training exchanges.

The army chief said that Pakistan valued its traditionally strong defence, diplomatic and economic relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain and underscored Pakistan's commitment to enhancing military ties with the country, the military's media wing added.

Gen Munir emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing shared security challenges and promoting peace and stability in the region.

The visiting dignitary commended Pakistan for its efforts in combating terrorism and extremism and acknowledged the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Army.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan in defence and security domains.

Earlier on January 8, the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, conferred the Military Medal Order of Bahrain First Class upon Gen Munir during his two-day official visit to the kingdom.

Gen Asim, during his visit, engaged in key meetings with Bahraini dignitaries, including His Majesty The King, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Field Marshal Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa (Commander of Bahrain Defence Forces), and Gen Shaikh Mohammad bin Isa Al Khalifa (Commander of Bahrain National Guard).

The dignitaries acknowledged and applauded the achievements of the Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism and its ongoing efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
