Two robbers, bystander killed in gunfight

Suspects open fire, attempt to escape

KARACHI:

Two armed robbers and a bystander were killed in a gunfight between police and a gang of criminals in Madina Colony in Korangi No 3.5, within the jurisdiction of the Awami Colony police station.

As per details, a police patrol attempted to stop two suspects riding a motorcycle near Korangi No. 6 Jalebi Chowk. The suspects opened fire and attempted to escape.

A pursuit ensued, leading to an exchange of gunfire near a petrol pump at Madina Colony. In the confrontation, one robber was fatally shot on the spot, while the other was arrested in an injured state.

The police report disclosed that an employee standing at the counter of a puncture shop adjacent to the petrol pump was also seriously injured during the fire exchange. Identified as Kashan, the 20-year-old employee was rushed to the JPMC, where he, along with the injured robber, succumbed to their injuries.

The dead robbers were identified as Saad and Rajab Nawaz, and weapons along with motorcycles were recovered from their possession. Police are examining the criminal records of the dead robbers.Imran, the owner of the puncture shop, expressed his grief while talking to the media. He said that the late Kashan had been working at his shop for the past four years. Originally from Hyderabad, Kashan moved to Karachi four years ago and had been employed at the shop since then.
