Robbers kill 10 in the first month of 2024

Man inured while resisting

KARACHI:

A man critically injured during a robbery in the New Karachi Industrial Area passed away on Tuesday, taking this month's tally of deaths during robberies to 10. Meanwhile, three persons, including a woman, were injured in separate firing incidents in North Karachi, Paposh Nagar, and Sachal areas.

As per details, a man was critically injured by suspected robbers when he put up resistance during a robbery at an LPG gas cylinder shop in Sector 11G of the New Karachi Industrial Area.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Taj Muhammad, owned the shop and was present at the business place with his brother Subhan and an employee when two of the three robbers riding a motorcycle entered the shop. During the robbery, Taj Muhammad, who had a licensed pistol, attempted to resist, on which the robbers opened fire on Taj. He was hit in the neck and thigh. He was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition where he died. Police found two shells of a 30-bore pistol from the crime scene. Police investigators are working to obtain CCTV footage from the nearby cameras.

In a separate incident at Power House Chowrangi, North Karachi, a man was seriously injured by gunfire. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Arsalan, was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. According to the rescuers, the incident occurred due to an accidental discharge of a firearm in a rent-a-car office. Police are investigating.

In a third incident that took place in Saadi Town near checkpost No 5 of Malir Cantonment, a 28-year-old woman, Iram was injured in a firing incident. Rescuers shifted her to a private hospital near Safoora Chowrangi. Preliminary investigations by Sachal police suggest that the shooting took place during a dispute. Police are gathering more information.
