Victim found dead at home by nephew

Unknown persons tortured the in-charge of Allied Hospital’s Nursing Department to death in Rehmanpura on Sunday. The police took the body into custody and after the post-mortem, handed it over to his relatives and registered a case.

Sohail Akhtar, a resident of 215 RB Gulberg Valley, filed a case stating that his aunt, 55-year-old Najma Bibi, was the in-charge of the nursing department at Allied Hospital. She lived alone in 215 RB Mohalla Rehmanpura.

On Sunday, unidentified suspects allegedly broke into her home and tortured her to death, locking the house from outside as they left the scene. Sohail contacted her, but when she did not answer, he jumped over the wall of her house and went inside. He saw that his aunt Najma Bibi lying dead and called the police.

A case has been registered against the unidentified suspects under the provisions of 302 PPC and raids are under way to find them.

Earlier this week, a man was killed over resistance during a robbery at his home in Tandlianwala, while his brother was critically injured.

According to the police, robbers entered the house by climbing over a wall in the 419GB area. They shot 40-year-old Muhammad Iqbal twice in the head when he offered resistance. The deceased had five children. His 35-year-old brother Ghulam Rasool also suffered a bullet injury.

Upon hearing the gunfire, the villagers gathered but the killers escaped while firing under the cover of darkness.

The local residents protested over late arrival of the police at the crime scene despite being having been promptly informed about the incident.

The police handed over the body to the heirs after completing the medico-legal formalities, registered a case against six men under Section 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched a hunt for them.

Meanwhile, the police arrested 16 suspected members five gangs of robbers and seized Rs1 million, seven motorcycles, weapons and mobile phones from them.

However, three accomplices of the suspects escaped.

Ghulam Muhammadabad police conducted a raid near Baseline Cemetery and arrested Zeeshan and Ghulam Mohiuddin, recovering Rs200,000, mobile phones, two motorcycles and weapons from them.

Sargodha Road police arrested Adeel Baloch, Zain Akram and Faisal.

The raiding team recovered Rs600,000, three stolen motorcycles and five pistols from their possession.

Khurrianwala police conducted raids in the 73RB area and arrested Babar Munir, Adeel and another suspect.

Millat Town police carried out a raid at the Dry Port Chowk and arrested Rehan, Zeeshan and Haider. They police seized three pistols, cash and mobile phone from the suspects.

However, Aamir, Khalid Javed and Mumtaz managed to escape.
