QUETTA:

To strengthen the fight against terrorism and advance modern policing, the much-awaited Quetta Safe City Project has reached its final stages, with more than 1400 cutting-edge Internet Protocol (IP) cameras strategically installed at 255 key locations across the city.

This extensive surveillance system is set to play a pivotal role in enhancing security measures for the residents of the city.

Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki personally monitored the completion of the Safe City Project, sources in the CM Secretariat have maintained.

The cameras are installed at all entry and exit points of the provincial capital. The project has been almost completed and the interim chief minister is likely to inaugurate it this month, a well-placed official in the CM Secretariat told The Express Tribune.

The official declined to be named since he was not authorized to speak to the media.

According to reports from the Science and Information Technology Department, the project boasts a state-of-the-art command and control centre. This centre is not only equipped with the latest technology but also houses a team of skilled human resources. The entire system has been designed locally, showcasing the province's commitment to self-reliance in technological advancements.
