ISLAMABAD:

Former Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) secretary Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has said there was a reason why the nomination papers of PTI founder Imran Khan and other candidates were rejected by the returning officers.

Weighing in on the development on the Express News programme "Center Stage," Dilshad emphasised that the rejection of PTI leaders' nomination papers wasn't arbitrary and had legitimate grounds.

He specifically pointed out that Imran Khan's nomination papers were declined due to his conviction in the Toshakhana case, highlighting that according to the prevailing circumstances, he remains ineligible to participate in elections as long as the conviction stands.
