A trial court in the federal capital has rejected the police’s request for further remand of Manzoor Pashteen and has ordered the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) chief to be placed in judicial custody.
On Saturday, Islamabad Police presented Pashteen before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Chaudhry, requesting an extension of his remand in connection with a case registered at Tarnol Police Station.

However, the judge declined the request and ordered the PTM leader to be remanded in prison. The court also issued notices regarding Pashteen’s bail application, with arguments scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, January 2.
Pashteen was arrested on December 4 while traveling with a caravan from Balochistan’s Chaman district to Turbat district. Police claimed that Pashteen was apprehended after officers were reportedly fired upon from his vehicle, and also for violating a ban preventing his entry into Balochistan. However, the PTM has accused law enforcement of directly firing at Pashteen’s car.
