KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Sunday said they will thwart the nefarious designs of the rulers of Sindh to divide Karachi on ethnic lines.

Speaking at an election rally at the Machar Colony locality of Keamari on Sunday night, he said that the Pakistan Peoples Party had carved out the Keamari district on ethnic basis to keep MQM-P out. However, he said, "we have broken the chains and come here to help resolve your problems."

The rulers desired to divide Karachi on linguistic lines to pursue their agenda. He mentioned that the scarcity of water and gas is not confined to this area alone but prevails throughout Karachi.

He urged the people to take charge of their own destiny, "no one will come to your help." MQM-P Senior Deputy Convenor Mustafa Kamal said that the people of Keamari, like the rest of the city, were denied government jobs, just like the youth of Karachi. PPP sold out jobs reserved for you to people presenting fake domiciles, he said.

He expressed heartfelt condolences for the three MQM-P activists shot dead in the area and said, "those who want to sell Keamari's water are responsible for these deaths."

He said, "if you give PPP another chance, they will make the whole Sindh like Machar Colony."
