Young man crushed to death in separate incident

HARIPUR:

At least three men, believed to be friends, were killed while two others injured when their car collided with a truck on GT Road on early Monday morning.

According to the rescue sources, the accident occurred due to speeding. The collision was so intense that the vehicle overturned and was badly damaged. The bodies and the injured were taken to the Haripur Trauma Centre. A case has been registered.

In a separate accident, a young man named Khaista Rehman died on Khanpur Road when a speeding coaster rammed into his motorcycle.

The victim died on the spot, said the police, adding that the coaster driver, identified as Sohail, sped away.

The deceased worked for a local company. A case has been registered.

Former cop netted

Police arrested a man impersonating as an Additional SHO for his involvement in a series of robberies in the limits of TIP police station.

The arrested suspect was identified as Nawaz and he was a resident of Kachi Road. The police said that he had been orchestrating a string of fraudulent activities under the guise of a senior police officer.

Investigations revealed that Nawaz previously served in the Sindh Police and transitioned to the K-P Police following a recommendation.

Having retired from the Khanpur police station, he went on to establish a criminal gang, which included a woman. Their modus operandi involved luring victims to a house in Azizabad under the pretext of police raids, subsequently robbing them of their belongings.
