Dazzling flower exhibition at UoA

Emphasizing importance of research for national development, officials encourage faculty to prioritize research

PESHAWAR:

The two-week exhibition showcasing Gul-e-Dawoodi (Chrysanthemum) and Gul-e-Sadburg (Marigold) flowers commenced at the University of Agriculture (UoA) on Monday. Organized by the Department of Horticulture at UoA, the event featured an impressive display of 30 varieties of Gul-e-Dawoodi, along with two types of French and African Gul-e-Sadburg.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Arshad Khan, Secretary of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department (HED), and Prof Dr Jehan Bakht, the Vice Chancellor. Both dignitaries acknowledged and commended the dedicated efforts of the university’s gardeners. Additionally, they praised the Department of Horticulture for their commitment to enhancing the breeding and duration of Chrysanthemum flowers.

Emphasizing the importance of research for national development, the officials encouraged the faculty to prioritize research endeavors. Dr. Fazl e Wahid provided insights into ongoing research efforts aimed at improving these flowers, detailing their capabilities, benefits, and various types.
