Dr Waseem emphasised the health benefits of jaggery, suggesting it as a wholesome alternative for parents to offer children instead of calorie-dense ice creams and desserts after meals, aiding in digestion. Moreover, he highlighted its potential to alleviate joint aches and pains.

He also shared that demand for jaggery rises with the advent of the winter season such that markets get flooded with the increase in demand. Jaggery (gur) is a traditional sweetener made by the concentration of sugarcane juice and is available in the form of solid blocks and semi-liquid forms for consumption.
