Two vegetable and fruit markets will be established in Gujjar Khan and Doulatala to end Rawalpindi’s dependence on the markets of Islamabad.
While announcing the new markets, Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Laiqat Ali Chatha said Rawalpindi is dependent on the markets of Islamabad due to the absence of its own market.
“Due to this, there was a significant hike in the price of vegetables and fruits. However, not only one but two markets are being established here to compensate for their absence for years.”
After the newly established vegetable and fruit market in Rawat, markets are also being established in Doulatala and Gujar Khan, he said.
Commissioner Chatha directed officials to gear up for the development work. He further directed the assistant commissioner to shift the illegal fruit and vegetable market at Guyana Mor in Gujar Khan to the Hailian area.
