CM takes necessary steps to ensure fair advertisements, case of slain journalist

Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, in a meeting with the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) delegation, stated that the Sindh government fully believes in press freedom.

He mentioned that all necessary steps are being taken for the immediate arrest of the murderers of journalist Jan Muhammad Mehr, and there will be no compromise in this regard.

Baqar said that the area's SSP has also been suspended in connection with the incident. He expressed confidence that the culprit would be apprehended soon. He stated that he is personally overseeing the case and has provided directives for swift action.

Justice Baqar also directed the Information Secretary to establish a mechanism for the fair distribution of advertisements. He instructed the Chairman of the Sindh Revenue Board to take immediate action on the CPNE's demands regarding the payments of newspaper advertisements.

Baqar assured the delegation of prompt payment of the outstanding dues related to the payment of advertisements for the press.
