Suspect is mentally challenged, claims wife

A young man allegedly killed his mother by beating her to death with a stick.

Seventy-year-old Manzooran Bibi, a resident of Jinnah Abadi, was in the courtyard of her house when her son Asif allegedly struck her head with a stick, knocking her to the ground and inflicting serious injuries.

The victim succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

SHO Thikriwala Inspector Riazuddin and Outpost Incharge Sabzi Mandi ASI Wajid Ali arrived at the scene as soon as they received reports, took the accused into custody and dispatched the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Manzooran Bibi’s daughter-in-law Jamilan Bibi told authorities that her husband, Asif, is mentally challenged.

Meanwhile in Sargodha, unidentified suspects gunned down a man in the jurisdiction of Bhagtanwala police station early on Tuesday.Police said that the victim, 48-year-old Muhammad Safeer was riding his motorcycle when the unidentified accused shot him dead on the spot.
