FIR registered against slain ‘robbers’

Alleged robbers were charged with anti-terrorism provisions

An FIR was registered on Sunday against the six alleged robbers who had died in a police encounter.

The alleged robbers had been charged with anti-terrorism provisions besides that of attempt to murder and robbery.

The SHO of Iqbal Town, Inspector Javed Iqbal, said in the statement that he had been patrolling in the vicinity of the
College Block of Iqbal Town on Saturday when he received a call on police Helpline 15.

He responded to the call and entered into the house from the gate.

As police entered the premises, the robbers opened fire on them, said the SHO in his statement.

Meanwhile, the SHOs of Wahdat Colony and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, along with a contingent of police, also reached the spot.

In the exchange of fire, two suspected robbers died, said the statement.

The family of Dr. Ebad Ahmad, whose house the robbers had invaded, was escorted to the kitchen of the house by police after they had told them that some other suspected robbers had climbed to the upper portion of the house.

Police followed them, and another exchange of fire ensued which lasted over 40 minutes in which all of the robbers died.
