KARACHI:

The official launch of IBA History Society recently took place with the inaugural event of the year, ‘Hamari Kahaniyan’ at the G&T Auditorium of the main campus.

The programme kicked off with a rendition of kathak dance, performed by Rahma Ali, a senior student pursuing a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences and Liberal Arts. Rahma’s performance offered the audience a visual symphony that illuminated the depths of ancient Indian culture.

Following Rahma Ali’s performance, the audience welcomed Karachi-based storytellers from NAPA, including Fawad Khan, Meesam Naqvi, and Nazar ul Hassan. The session commenced with a rendition of the classical piece ‘Hamzanama’.

The second performance centered around the literary work ‘Haveli’ by Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi. ‘Haveli’ delved into the life of Qibla, a man forced to leave his Haveli in Kanpur due to the partition.

The dastangoi performances unfolded on a minimalistic stage, with each storyteller using classical Urdu words and demonstrative actions to convey the narrative.

The ancient etiquettes of storytelling were meticulously observed, ensuring an immersive experience for the audience.

As the evening concluded, attendees were treated to refreshments, providing an opportunity to mingle with friends and capture memories amidst the beautifully adorned decorations.
