Karachi Killings: Hoti calls for restoration of peace

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said provincial government supports the federal government in its efforts to bring peace to Karachi. He however added that action against terrorists, target killers and land grabbers should be across the board. He urged all political forces to work together to restore peace in the city. Hoti was talking to the media after inaugurating the construction work of the boundary wall of Bacha Khan Greater Complex in Mardan on Saturday. The boundary wall will cost approximately Rs170 million. Hoti termed the complex as a mega project which could take several years to complete. He was of the view that change of governments should not hinder its completion.

Yes, we all hope for restoration of peace in Karachi. But as Chief Minister of KPK Amir Hoti's first responsibility is to restore peace in KPK which is more intense than in Karachi. The lives and limbs of innocent citizens, even the ones going for Eid Prayers is not safe. And 170 million rupees for just the boundary wall. I thought that I read it wrong, it must have been for the whole complex but when I read it again that is what it says: 170 million rupees for just the boundary wall. ANP's government has broken all previous record of corruption in the Province. Bacha Khan, that sufi saint of a politician whose life was dedicated to the service of humanity must be rolling over in his grave to hear this humongous amount of money spent on a complex named after him. He was a picture of humility and simplicity. Mr. Hoti, please make sure that this construction of the complex is done with total transparency where the public knows exactly where the money is going. And none of the contractors should be from your family or ANP party members. Contracts should be awarded to genuine construction companies with good business credentials.
