KARACHI:

Sardar Abdul Rahim, Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional Sindh, criticising the government for rising incidents of suicide due to unbearable inflation, has held the government responsible for the suicide of a woman along with her two daughters in Malir district.

Rahim, who is also the Information Secretary of the Grand Democratic Alliance, was referring to a heart-rending incident when a woman took her own life, along with her two innocent daughters, due to hunger and inflation.

The PML-F leader strongly condemned the 193 per cent increase in gas tariffs as unacceptable. "Load-shedding has made life unbearable for residents in Sindh's cities, particularly in Karachi, where gas is unavailable during cooking hours," he said in a statement and attributed the rising gas prices to the government's inefficiency.

Rahim questioned how long the government would continue to impose inflationary measures on the poor people of Pakistan to appease the IMF. He raised concerns about the past misuse of loans borrowed from the IMF, emphasising that if these substantial sums had been utilised for the public good, the country would not be in its current situation.

"Those who misappropriate public funds and infringed upon the people's rights should be held accountable as national criminals," he demanded.
