Rape charges: Constable taken into custody, moved to Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD:

A police constable who allegedly attempted to rape a Chinese engineer was taken into custody and sent to Adiala Jail on Friday, police said. He was serving with the lady who was working with a team of Chinese engineers at the under construction airport near Fateh Jang. The accused official however, denied the charges.

Earlier, the project manager of the new airport lodged a complaint with the Westridge police that the constable, deployed on security duty, tried to assault the female civil engineer at her room in the residential colony.

He said on hearing her screams, her colleagues residing in the colony rushed to her rescue and overpowered the constable. Le Gang said that she was working on her laptop last night when the police guard entered into her private room and made an attempt to assault her.

After the incident, the news was brought into the notice of the local police, the SSP Operation Yasin Farooq, SP Potohar Division and acting SHO Mian Imran. The officials reached the crime scene and recorded the statement of the complainant.

Later the accused constable  was arrested and a case was registered against him.
