Soldiers martyred in Waziristan gun battles laid to rest

Serving military officers, relatives of martyrs and a large number of locals attended the funerals, says ISPR

Funeral prayers of four soldiers of Pakistan Army, who embraced martyrdom in two different encounters in North and South Waziristan districts on Thursday, were offered at their respective hometowns on Friday, the military said.

Four brave sons of soil, a 36-year-old resident of district Rawalpindi Lance Naik Tabbasumul Haq, a 30-year-old resident of Attock district Sepoy Naeem Akhtar, a 23-year-old resident of Multan district Sepoy Abdul Hameed, and a 25-year-old resident of Kashmor district Sepoy Farman Ali, having fought gallantly, had embraced martyrdom yesterday.

Six terrorists, including a “high-value target”, were also killed during two fierce encounters in North and South Waziristan districts.

The martyrs were laid to rest with full military honour, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

“Senior serving military officers, relatives of Shuhada (martyrs) and large strength of locals of the area attended the funerals,” it said.

“These sacrifices strengthen our resolve to stand resolute and committed to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the motherland at all cost,” the military’s media arm concluded.
