Petrol price cut leads to closure of many filling stations
Several petrol pumps across various areas, including Latifabad, temporarily shut down following a significant Rs40 reduction in petrol prices.
Assistant commissioners swiftly initiated a series of inspections at various filling stations the following day to ensure compliance with pricing regulations, issuing stern warnings to station owners to adhere to the government-approved petroleum rates.
Upon the announcement by the caretaker government, residents of Latifabad and Qasimabad eagerly sought out the newly lowered petrol prices at different filling stations.
The news of the reduction triggered a rush of motorcycles and cars converging on these stations as citizens flocked to take advantage of the reduced prices.
To their dismay, they found that most petrol stations were unexplainably closed.
The residents expressed frustration, noting that when petrol prices rise, filling station owners promptly adjust their rates, usually shortly after midnight. "However, when petrol prices decline, the same urgency to lower prices is often absent"they said.
This inconsistency left citizens struggling to access petrol due to the sudden closures of many petrol pumps.
Latifabad Assistant Commissioner Faraz Ahmed Siddiqui inspections various filling stations of the area to ensure compliance with the new prices.
