BADIN:

Four people, including two brothers, died of consuming raw liquor in Gulab Laghari village.

Brewing liquor at homes and shanty factories is a common practice in rural Sindh where it is known as kuchi and kuppi, however, at times the chemical process goes awry due to untrained hands and the concoction becomes a poisonous drink. Police shifted the bodies of 35-year-old Kumbu Jalal Megwar, 32-year-old Raes Mithu Megwar, 45-year-old Fakiru Rupushi Megwar and his brother 40-year old Nagji to the Tando Ghulam Ali basic health centre for legal formalities.

Deaths due to raw alcohol has become a daily routine in the poverty-hit area. Haunted by soaring inflation, unemployment, starvation, and disease, people search for knock-out solutions to escape the worries of the world at least for few hours.

Many young people have lost their lives and the series of deaths continue due to drinking raw alcohol.
