Afghan delegation stresses increased cooperation

'Afghan students serving in various fields in their country is a matter of pride for Agriculture University, Peshawar'

PESHAWAR:

A high-level delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, headed by Director of Foreign Affairs Dr Nazar Muhammad Irfan, visited the University of Agriculture, Peshawar where they met with the Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The delegation consisted of Afghanistan International Islamic University Vice Chancellor Dr Rafiullah Ata, Faculty of Engineering Dean Dr Abdul Hai Rewan, and Faculty of Agriculture Dean Dr Nisar Ahmad Zahid.

University of Agriculture, Peshawar Registrar Dr. Rizwan Ahmed and Higher Education Commission (HEC) representative Jahanzeb Khan were also present on the occasion.

Welcoming the delegation, University of Agriculture, Peshawar Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Jahan Bakht briefed its members on the ongoing curricular, co-curricular and other activities at the university and said that all facilities had been provided to the Afghan students studying at the institution.

He said Afghan students were serving in various fields in their country which was a matter of pride not only for Afghanistan but also for the Agriculture University, Peshawar.

Emphasising that the two countries had a common religion and culture, he said that his varsity would provide support in teaching, research and technical matters in agricultural education to Afghanistan.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Director of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nazar Muhammad Irfan, thanked the Agriculture University Vice Chancellor for the warm welcome and hospitality, adding that his country sent its students to Pakistan to acquire knowledge as the quality of the universities here was very high.
