Robbers snatch Rs1m from man exiting bank in DHA

35-year-old Mashkoor Hussain was shot and injured while resisting four armed suspects

In a new disturbing trend, armed robbers have targeted people withdrawing money from commercial banks in a series of incidents across the metropolitan city. Those who put up resistance were recklessly shot at and injured by the unabashed bandits.

A 35-year-old Mashkoor Hussain was shot and injured while resisting four armed suspects who wanted to rob him as he exited a bank after withdrawing Rs1 million in DHA Phase-2 Extension near the Defence police station.

SHO Defence police station Sub Inspector Shaukat Hayat Awan said the victim was shot in the hip. Alarmingly, the robbers carried out their reckless deed with impunity in the presence of a security guard outside the bank.

In another incident, armed robbers shot and injured 25-year-old Afghan national, named Abdul Ghani, during a robbery attempt in Afghan Basti within the jurisdiction of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station.

Shahid Taj, SHO of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station confirmed that Abdul Ghani was shot in the shoulder. He was rushed to Civil Hospital. In a third incident, six armed robbers chased a man named Barkat, who was heading home after withdrawing Rs450,000 from a private company near the National Highway.
