Draft ceremony held to pick best performers for SPL

First edition of the league scheduled from Dec 14 to 25 in Karachi

Draft ceremony of first edition of Sindh Premier League (SPL) was held at a local hotel. The six franchises of the league selected players for five different categories. These categories included Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging Categories and Sindhi Emerging Categories.

Best performing players in domestic cricket, well-known cricketers and emerging players were selected.

As per SPL rules, each franchise had the right to select one icon player, two platinum players, three diamond, three gold, four silver, two emerging players and five Sindhi emerging players. Platinum category included Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris, Haider Ali, Khush Dil Shah, Anwar Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Aamir Jamal, Ahmed Shahzad, Faheem Ashraf, Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah while in Diamond category Sohaib Maqsood, Zeeshan Ashraf, Arshad Iqbal, Salman Irshad, Musharraf Afridi, Haseebullah Khan and Sameen Gul were elected.

Sindh Caretaker Interior Minister Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz, Sports Minister Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and League Chairman Malik Aslam expressed their views on the occasion.

Six teams - Sukkur Patriot, Benazirabad Lals, Karachi Gladiator, Larkana Challengers, Khairpur Royals and Hyderabad Bahadur are participating in the league. The first edition of the league will be played in Karachi from December 14 to 25. PCB has issued NOC for the league.
