KARACHI:

PPP Sindh chapter's President Senator Nisar Khuhro on Wednesday expressed his concern regarding the current political landscape, suggesting that political parties lacking public trust may be attempting to evade the upcoming elections.

"These parties, which have witnessed a decline in their popularity among the public, seem to be apprehensive about facing the elections and are making efforts to postpone them," Senator Khuhro said in a statement. He also voiced his unease about the Election Commission of Pakistan's delay in announcing the election date, urging the ECP to immediately announce a date and schedule for the general elections to dispel political uncertainty.

The GDA and MQM-Pakistan have labeled the Sindh caretaker chief minister as a "B-team" of the PPP. Senator Khuhro dismissed these allegations as an attempt to exert pressure in anticipation of defeat before the elections. He viewed the recent agreement between the MQM-P and GDA against the appointment of the caretaker CM as a conspiracy aimed at creating controversy in the election process prior to voting.

Senator Khuhro emphasised that the demand by the GDA, MQM-P, and the JUI-F to suspend the elected local body representatives before announcing the election schedule is both unconstitutional and unjustified.
