Out of luck: 11 die in accidents, crime
Various incidents reported from Wednesday to Friday.

At least 11 people were reported dead across the city in traffic accidents, domestic violence and sundry crime from Wednesday to Friday.
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly burnt by her step-mother in Mughalpura. Police said that Saeed, a resident of Singhpura, had married Rukhsana in 2005. He had a daughter, Aqsa, and a son, Saif, from an earlier marriage who lived with him. Police said that Rukhsana had an argument with Aqsa on Eid, and she threw kerosene oil on her and burnt her alive. On hearing the child scream, some neighbours rushed her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The body of Nasreen, 40, was found floating in the canal near Mughalpura. Police speculated that she had been killed before being thrown into the canal. Elsewhere, a 26-year-old woman was found dead in Kahna. The deceased was identified as Jamila, wife of Zulfiqar, resident of Billiwala village. Police said that according to Jamila’s parents, she was poisoned by her husband following a quarrel. They said that she and her husband had quarrelled several times and made up.
A 12-year-old boy died while one-wheeling and his two cousins were seriously injured. The deceased was identified as Danish, and his injured cousins as Usama, 13, and Iftikhar. The injured were taken to a hospital, where doctors treating them said that they all had head injuries. They said their condition was critical. Muhammad Asad, a resident of Jia Musa, died while one-wheeling in Shahdara.
A balloon vendor died in Shalamar Gardens area after the gas cylinder on his cart exploded. He was identified as Muhammad Afzal, a resident of Farid Nagar, Bhagbanpura.
Mubashar Ali, 22, a resident of Pattoki, was allegedly tortured to death by the Allama Iqbal Town police. The deceased had been arrested on robbery charges. Sub Inspector Asghar, however, claimed that Ali had died from a cardiac arrest.DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has suspended four policemen including SI Asghar over the incident.
