KARACHI:

The security situation in the province has worsened in the past decade, said the speakers at a seminar The Deteriorating Situation of Peace and Security in Sindh organised by the Sindh United Lawyers Forum at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.

The speakers were unanimous that it is the responsibility of the state to provide peace and order in Pakistan and it has failed to do so.

They said that the problem of law and order cannot be solved until the police and Rangers are free from political influence.

"How can there be law and order in a province where politicians are patronising dacoits," said Sindh United Party President Syed Zain Shah.

Shah said in his presidential address that the politicians in Kashmore and Shikarpur use dacoits in election campaigns.

GDA leader Sardar Rahim said, "in 2007, I was contacted by Asif Zardari to join us. In 2012, Nawaz Sharif contacted us that our government is coming.

In 2018 PTI said join us. It is already known here that our government is coming. A system based on justice has to be brought in the country."
