Girls outperform boys in HSSC exams

BISE says overall passing rate remains 53.93%

Female students have once again outperformed male students in the intermediate exam results announced by the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

BISE Chairman Adnan Khan, Controller of Examinations, and Professor Sajid Farooqui while announcing the results said approximately 61,391 candidates comprising 24,056 male and 37,335 female students appeared in the examination.

The number of regular candidates was 44,650 while 16,741 candidates appeared privately. A total of 33,111 candidates passed the said exam while 28,215 failed. The success rate was recorded at 53.93 per cent. The success rate of female students was 60.34 per cent while the success rate of male students was 44 per cent. However, 894 candidates remained absent.

The results have been released on the website of the board while the students were also informed via SMS service. Similarly, the results of all the regular students have been sent to schools whereas the results of private students were sent to their residential addresses.

Chairman Adnan Khan has informed that students who failed the exams can reappear in supplementary and annual exams to improve their grades. In order to facilitate students, the board has established an online one-window facility to resolve the problems of private educational institutions and students regarding examinations, admissions, and registration.
