Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Women Wing took out 'Hijab Walk' to the Karachi Press Club on Monday to mark the International Hijab Day. A large number of women, belonging to all walks of life participated in the walk. The JI activists also distributed scarfs among women at the venue.
JI Karachi Deputy Ameer Dr Osama Razi addressed the participants of the walk. JI Women Wing leader Asma Safeer among others was leading the walk.
Speaking on the occasion, Razi said that the walk represents women from across the megalopolis.
It announces that Hijab is the symbol of our civilization and identity, he said, adding that similar programs are being held across the country.
He said that the JI has been advocating for the right of inheritance for women and all other rights enshrined in the Sharia law for women and against the exploitation and objectification of women in one pretext or another.
On the occasion, he strongly lambasted the West over their dual standards and said that at one hand, the Western World allows blasphemy and desecration of Holy Quran and on the other, it bars Muslim women from exercising their right to choice and cover their heads.
