RAWALPINDI:

The Cantt police claim to have arrested two employees of a trader for allegedly planning to steal away Rs4 million on the pretext of an armed robbery. The police also recovered the amount from their possession.

According to police, the suspects had been under the trader’s employment at his shop for a long time. While filing a police report, Khurram Shahzad, a businessman, stated that Malik Muneer and Waqas Hameed had been working at his shop for a long time.

“I gave them Rs4 million in cash to deposit it into the bank, and after some time, I also went after them as the amount was huge,” the complainant told the police. “I left them in the car and went to meet the bank manager,” he said and added that when he came back to pick up the money, both the workers had gone missing along with the money.

On the victim’s complaint, the police registered a case and arrested both suspects within three days and recovered the stolen money from their possession. Cantt SHO claimed that during the inquiry, the suspects disclosed their plan, saying they intended to portray the incident as a robbery.
