ISLAMABAD:

National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of ice worth tens of millions of rupees into Punjab on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

A spokesperson of NHMP said on Wednesday that motorway police patrolling Sector Commander M-1 Shafiqur Rahman signalled a suspicious vehicle to stop near Rashkai Service Area.

However, the drive did not stop, prompting the sector commander to issue an order to halt the suspicious vehicle.

The commander personally pursued the vehicle as well.

Upon seeing motorway police, the suspect veered off the road, abandoned the vehicle and fled.
