The Haripur district administration during separate actions sealed nearly a dozen brick kilns and fined vendors for selling substandard products.
Out of these sealed units, three brick kilns faced legal consequences for violating high court orders and governmental policies aimed at curbing pollution.
The move comes at a time when the district administration is intensifying efforts to enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in various parts of the district.
According to officials, Khanpur assistant commissioner conducted visits to several stone-crushing plants, assessing the implementation of SOPs mandated by the provincial government.
Directives were issued to the owners of these plants during the visits. Additionally, visits were made to Tarnawa and Khoi Nara to address citizens' complaints. The assistant commissioner provided instructions to the revenue staff for prompt resolutions of issues facing the public.
A surprise inspection was also carried out at the sub-registrar office in Khanpur to assess the services provided to the public, with appropriate instructions being issued.
Meanwhile, Khanpur assistant commissioner together with a livestock department supervisor examined milk samples at 14 shops. The inspection led to the destruction of over 320 litres of adulterated milk, which was found to be hazardous due to excessive water content.
Legal actions were taken against five shops, and multiple milk sellers were arrested for contaminating the milk supply.
On the other hand, district administration officials carried out an examination of passenger boats operating in Tarbela Lake near the Afghan refugee camp. He urged boat owners to prioritise safety measures and cautioned fishermen about potential water level increases during rainy periods.
Additionally, boat owners were warned against overloading cargo and passengers, emphasising compliance with legal regulations.
Haripur Deputy Commissioner Aun Haider Gondal, along with officers from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board, visited Haripur Tehsil Office to discuss the digitisation of records related to Haripur General Mohafiz Khana. Later, a meeting was convened in his office to address the matter and issue relevant directives.
In another development, Haripur deputy commissioner rewarded revenue officers who have demonstrated outstanding performance, achieving a 100 per cent collection of government dues. Additional DC, deputy director database, and additional assistant commissioner revenue were also present at the event.
Recently, the Ghazi assistant commissioner imposed fines on several shopkeepers and imposed fines for failing to display official price lists and for the use of polythene bags.
