WhatsApp has finally launched its standalone app for smartwatches running Google’s Wear OS. Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement yesterday. The launch of the WhatsApp app for Wear OS will let its users start new conversations, reply to messages and take VoIP calls, without a connected phone nearby.
The app will begin rolling out today worldwide and is compatible with smartwatches running Wear OS 3. Users will be able to send and receive text and voice messages with emojis, from their wrist.

During Google's I/O keynote, the company also unveiled other Wear OS apps from third-party companies like Spotify. Apple’s watch OS does not currently have a standalone WhatsApp app unlike Wear OS, which shows how Google is quick to take over Apple's dominion by improving its own smartwatch by launching new apps and updates.
