On the second day of the monsoon season, light to moderate rainfall lashed various parts of the city on Saturday. Gulshan-e-Hadid recorded the highest rainfall of 17mm, contributing to a total of 31mm over the past two days. However, despite the rainfall, the relentless heat persisted. On Saturday, the humidity soared to 76 per cent, making the temperature feel even hotter than the recorded 40 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded was 35.5 degrees Celsius. As the initial regular monsoon system made its way into Sindh in recent days, several areas of the city experienced scattered showers. Malir, Gulshane-Hadid, Port Qasim, Quaidabad, Defense, Clifton, II Chandrigar Road, Mai Kolachi, Karachi Airport, Shah Faisal Colony, Quaidabad, Landhi, and Bhains Colony were among the areas that received light to moderate rain. While some parts of the city enjoyed partial cloud cover, the majority basked under the scorching sun.

These areas endured sweltering heat and stifling humidity throughout the afternoon, with no respite from the rain in terms of temperature reduction. The humidity levels soared to 76 per cent due to the intense heat, causing the mercury to feel five degrees hotter than the actual recorded temperature. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the highest temperature recorded during this period was 35.5 degrees Celsius.

In the rainfall data released by the PMD on Saturday, Gulshan-eHadid emerged as the area with the highest rainfall, measuring 17mm. The city has accumulated a total of 31mm of rainfall over the past two days. On Friday, Gulshan-e-Hadid received 14mm of rainfall. During the rain, the wind speed intensified, reaching a maximum recorded speed of 27 km per hour. According to the PMD’s forecast, intermittent rain is expected to continue on Sunday.

Monday’s weather in the city is predicted to feature partial cloud cover in some areas and complete cloud cover in others, with a possibility of light rain in the morning and evening.
