PARACHINAR:

Five tribesmen were killed and more than 23 sustained injuries when two rival clans clashed over the ownership of a piece of land in Boshera area of Kurram tribal district in KhyberPakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday. Local residents told The Express Tribune that two rival clans suddenly took positions on mountain tops and started firing at each other on Friday afternoon. “The clash continued all the night long. Two people from each side lost their lives in the clashes while one man of the clan was also killed elsewhere over the dispute.

Around 23 people have been injured so far,” said a local elder, adding that later a local Jirga with the help of district administration intervened and convinced the warring faction to agree for a ceasefire. It may be mentioned here that one dozen people were killed in a previous clashe between the two clans a few months back too.

After the merger of the erstwhile Fata with the K-P, hundreds of people have been killed over land disputes without inviting any attention from the quarters concerned. The deceased were identified as Wahab Ali Shah, Mohammad, Abdul Wali and Ali Khel.
