The Sikh community in Peshawar celebrated Pakistan's Independence Day with traditional enthusiasm, donning green turbans and white attire to symbolize the national flag.
Children from the community raised spirited slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad" and "Pak Army Zindabad", filling the air with patriotic fervor.
A colourful ceremony was held at the historic Jogin Shah Gurdwara, attended by police officials, Auqaf Department representatives, and members of civil society. Speaking on the occasion, children from the Sikh community said their hearts beat for Pakistan and described the day as one of their greatest joys.
Dr Sahib Singh, a prominent Sikh leader, said, "Nowhere in the world do Sikhs enjoy the level of freedom they have in Pakistan. Pakistan is our life, and our hearts beat for this land. This country has always respected us, and our identity is the green crescent flag."
Police personnel, including senior officers, joined the celebrations. SP City Ateeq Shah said it was an honour to cut the Independence Day cake alongside minority communities, sending a positive message to the world. He praised the Sikh community for its longstanding cooperation with the people and police of Peshawar.
Muhammad Ashfaq, Manager of Gurdwaras and Temples in Peshawar, noted that the Sikh community celebrates national days with full patriotic zeal every year. "As always, this year we cut a cake and our children shared a message of love for Pakistan," he added.
