'Main Nikla Gadi Leke' to be recreated with Arijit Singh, Udit Narayan for 'Gadar 2'

Gadar 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2001 blockbuster film Gadar, is set to hit theatres in August. Fans are eagerly awaiting the offering. To make things even more interesting, News18 has exclusively learned that the iconic song, Main Nikla Gadi Leke, will receive special treatment in the sequel, with Udit Narayan and Arijit Singh lending their voices to a reprised version. The music for the song has been composed by Mithoon.

Director Anil Sharma revealed that they have recreated the song, Main Nikla Gadi Leke, for the sequel. Furthermore, a source close to the production shared with News18, "The original version of Main Nikla Gadi Leke was a peppy number that became a massive hit. Even after 22 years, the song continues to be a rage and is a regular at parties and wedding functions."

Continuing further, the source stated, "When the decision to recreate the song was made, the intention was to maintain the essence of the original while infusing a fresh touch. Mithoon and the filmmakers decided to introduce a new voice, and everyone unanimously agreed that Arijit Singh would be the perfect choice."

The source further revealed, "In addition to Arijit, the makers also wanted to retain a nostalgic element in the song and decided to keep Udit Narayan's vocals, as they didn't want to tamper with the original track. It is believed that the new version will also feature Utkarsh Sharma, who plays Sunny Deol's son in the film. While Udit's voice will represent Sunny's character, Arijit has lent his voice to Utkarsh."

Confirming the exciting news, a source close to the film stated, "Yes, Arijit Singh will be co-singing the song with Uditji. Arijit and Uditji have created magic. The makers have preserved the essence of the original track, respecting its status as a classic adored by audiences for many years. They have approached these recreations as a mark of respect to the original creator of the song, Uttam Singh."

As far as Gadar 2 is concerned, Sunny Deol will reprise his iconic role as Tara Singh, while Ameesha Patel will return as Sakeena. Recently, the film's makers unveiled a recreated version of another popular track from the original film, Udd Jaa Kaale Kawa, which featured the original vocals by Narayan and Alka Yagnik. 

With Singh and Narayan joining forces for the reprise version of an already beloved song, fans wait with bated breath. Here's hoping that the rendition is a homage to the original, and not a track that will have fans on both sides of the border gasping for breath for all the wrong reasons, as was the case with Singh's Pasoori Nu.
